Arctic Thunder is the 16th studio album by Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone. It was released in October 2016. Upon release, the album was their most black record since 2004’s Sardonic Wrath. The album also features prominent doom metal influences. Tracks 2, 4, 6, and 7 are written by Nocturno Culto, while tracks 1, 3, 5, and 8 are written by Fenriz. Darkthrone is a Norwegian metal band from Kolbotn, Akershus. Formed in 1986 as a death metal band named Black Death, in 1991 Darkthrone embraced a black metal style influenced by Bathory and Celtic Frost and became one of the leading bands in the Norwegian black metal scene.
