Back in 2006 Dead Head started writing new material for their next album. In May 2008, short after signing a recorddeal with Displeased Records, Dead Head began recording this album at the Hooiland Studios (Zwolle, the Netherlands). During the recording period vocalist Tom van Dijk and Dead Head parted ways, not only resulting in the search for a new vocalist, but also the re-recording of the vocal parts. "depression tank" is the first Dead Head album featuring vocalist Ralph de Boer and officially saw the light of day in February 2009.

Dead Head was formed April 8th 1989 in Kampen, Netherlands. On that day the four original members Tom van Dijk (bass, vocals), Robbie Woning (guitar), Ronnie van der Wey (guitar), and Hans Spijker (drums), decided to form a band and to become the most intense and brutal thrash-metal band Europe had ever seen.
