Darkness in a Different Light is the eleventh studio album by progressive metal band Fates Warning, released on September 30, 2013 (Europe) and October 1 (North America) through Inside Out Music. It is the band's first album since FWX (2004), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in their career, as well as being their first studio album with guitarist Frank Aresti since Inside Out (1994). Drummer Bobby Jarzombek also makes his debut with Fates Warning on this album.

Fates Warning is an American progressive metal band, formed in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1982 by vocalist John Arch, guitarists Jim Matheos and Victor Arduini, bassist Joe DiBiase, and drummer Steve Zimmerman. There have been numerous lineup changes over the course of their 40-year career, and Matheos is the only constant member.
