Favourite vocalists, guitarists and songwriters
10 Oct 2008, 18:40 by JimKnopf-
Every idiot on last.fm has got a blog like this, so I decided to be an idiot too! :)
The most important thing is that you know that this lists consist to 95% of my opinion and my feelings. I do NOT rate talent in any way.
Female vocalists:
1. Dolores O'Riordan (The Cranberries)
Propably the most beautiful voice I have ever listened to. Very nice colour and tune.
2. Ann Wilson (Heart)
Nowadays she's not that pretty anymore but her voice became even more asskicking.
3. Andrea Corr (The Corrs)
Lovely, smooth voice. Makes me feel very comfortable.
4. Simone Simons (Epica)
Her voice is nearly as beautiful as the rest of her )
5. Floor Jansen (After Forever)
Great variety.
I also like to mention the two Nightwish' vocalists Tarja Turunen[artist] and Anette Olzon.
I do not listen to much female fronted music anyway, so this list isn't that long ;)
Male vocalists #1(clean):
1. Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy)
Sooo cool :)
2. Marco Hietala (Tarot[artist], [artist]Nightwish)
Beautiful voice, very variable.
3. Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)
Smoothing and friendly voice. I especially like his movements at live performances :)
4. Warrel Dane (Nevermore)
Just great.
5. Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)
The awesome voice of the best metal band in history.
I also like James Hetfield, Mikael Akerfelt, Rob Halford, Steven Wilson and Freddy Mercury very much.
Male vocalists #2(harsh vocals, screams, growls etc.)
1. Johann Hegg (Amon Amarth)
<33
2. Anders Friden (In Flames)
Used to be my favourite, but he kinda sucks since Reroute To Remain.
3. Tapio Wilska (Sethian, Finntroll, Nightwish)
Low and dark, clear pronounciation. Very nice.
4. Marcus Bischoff (Heaven Shall Burn)
Awesome brutal growling
5. Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity)
Guitarists:
1. Jari Mäenpää (Wintersun, Ensiferum)
Amazing solos and songwriting <33
2. Gary Moore (Skid Row, Thin Lizzy)
+Phil Lynott = dreamteam no. 1 ))
3. John Petrucci (Dream Theater)
Just a great guitar player
4. Martin Barre (Jethro Tull)
Seriously the most underrated guitar player ever
5. Eric Clapton
Wrote wonderful songs
Guitarists I need to mention: Jeff Loomis - awesome solos, great riffs, Carlos Santana, James Hetfield - one of the best songwriters ever, Jesper Strömblad - writes awesome riffs and melodies, Empuu Vuorinen - nice melodic solos, Mikael Akerfelt
Feel free to leave a comment! =) -

Women are such hypcocritial sluts (metal sucks)
10 Oct 2008, 18:19 by EndoftheRoad
i have now reached the conclusion that women are hypocritical, shallow assholes. This seems to to have happened due to heir obsession with base emotions, sex and power. They claim the "like everything" then you'll pop on a Godspeed You! Black Emperor album and they would get it, they say rubbish such as, "I respect this band as talent but it's really not my thing". Bullshit if you respected the bands talent you shut up and listen to them instead of putting on your favorite "indie" rock song. A bit in the same way they will were clothes and show themselves of they will listen to music in the same way. Of course this doesn't just refer to women to can find this logic and many our scenes of music especially in the metal and the hardcore scenes these bands seem to make 1000 of different genres up they all have the same structures and idea, it's pathetic, get some taste guys.
Anyway never mind all this this crap, listen to true music instead, it's worth it:

Wacken 2008
8 Oct 2008, 23:03 by Savatage87
Under the protection of the common sentence 'rather late then never' I write my review of Wacken 2008. It was the first time I attended the largest metal festival in the world since Dynamo was destroyed by the general Dutch mentality. I will save you the bullshit and get on with the bandshit.
Thursday
Airbourne: How many Ac/Dc ripoffs have walked this planet so far? I lost count. But this one is one of them that is worth the effort. It all sounded good, though there was really nothing about these guys that has not been heard in one thousand other bands before: 6,5/10
Iron Maiden: One of the reasons Wacken was so incredibly crowded this year. This show was part of Maiden's somewhere back in time tour that spanned albums like Powerslave and Seventh Son (my favourite Maiden album.) This was really a good show again. But Maiden's losing a bit of energy. Was it because the sound was not loud enough? Or are the guys just getting older. Anyways, a great setlist with some songs of Seventh Son and of course Rime of the ancient mariner made this Maiden show special again: 7/10
Friday
Ensiferum: This is my favourite folk/viking metal band that currently roams the scene. The band choosed to let some classics behind, like Tale Of Revenge and even Battle Song, and I wonder if that was a good choice. Nevertheless these guys know how to play metal and they did! 7,5/10
Kamelot: I've never seen this band live, and I was pretty exited finally having the chance to see them. Thad added to the dissapointment they caused. Was it the sound that was way too loud so that it ruined the songs? Or is Roy Khan just not the type of voice I like? Who knows...6/10
Sabaton: One of these few bands that have a special talent of making any crowd enthousiastic. After seeing many Sabaton shows this is becoming a repeating tape, but the new songs I did not hear live yet were performed surprisingly good and this added to the party sphere that is always present at a Sabaton show: 8/10
Sonata Arctica: I forced myself to try this one out, but I remained far away for I did not want to fall asleep yet. It started out quite okay, but it collapsed to a boring and even sad show, led by that weird gaydude with his red hairspray. Dude! The genre you try to play is called POWER metal! So where is the power?? 3,5/10
Opeth: Time to wake up again! Opeth is one of the few black acts I really like. I'm still not very familiar with their material, but there is no need to. An Opeth concert is also great when you don't know the stuff. And that's a mark that a band is realy good! 7/10
Children of Bodom: I was close to the front row here, and not because I like this band. No I wanted to be on front when Avantasia started, and I had to stand this shit out. Man! We are metal right? What is so metal about some fake blood cans on a stage and a blonde dwarf having speeches with 1000 fucks/minute? What is so metal about that irritating fake grunt and songs like are you dead yet andmore of that childish stuff? Highlight of the show was when I punched one of the many emo kids present a bleeding nose. That'll teach him kicking his allstars in my face!: 2/10
Corvus Corax: Didn't know what it was, but I liked it. Big choir, epic stuff. Those are my things!! 7,5/10
Avantasia: Didn't I say I love epic stuff? Well, Avantasia was the main reason I came to Wacken, and I must say I was not disappointed! Unless the sound problems with Jorn's mike, Tobias & co put up one hell of a show. unbelievable performances of songs like Reach Out For The Light, Serpents In Paradise, Farewell (you should have seen all these hands in the air!) and Sign Of The Cross, which they ended with the Seven Angels chorus. Goosebumps all over and some spectators shed a tear, which I think says enough. Amazing! Why was this a once in a lifetime tour? I want to see this again, and again, and again.....! Awesome!:9,5/10
Saturday
Machine Men: Didn't know this, but I heard some good things. And it was worth the 'early' wake-up. Heavy metal like it was meant to be. Great guitar riffs, a powerfull voice and licked solo's!: 7,5/10
Hatebreed: I just had to watch this to keep up with my comedy factor. And I must say I laughed a lot. For except for the weak punk derivatives, there was the 'moshpit' if it could have been called like that. Geez, was that all? So those are the tough hardcore guys! (pussy's...) 2/10
Carcass: This could become metal history! So my presence was required. And I did think I watched some metal history while it was written down indeed! Great stuff, though I'm really no death metal person. I can't provide you more info for I'm not a fan at all, but I liked it! 7/10
Nightwish: One's paying like 120 euro's for a Wacken ticket and I think a substantial amount will dissapear in this band's chest, so I had to see where my money was going. Couldn't they book K3 in stead? Those girls are cheaper, and I wouldn't have noticed the difference! No offence to anyone in Nightwish. They play good, including the new vocalist. But her additude onstage was so childish that it made the show kinda pathetic. Not to speak about the setlist? Almost only new songs, though I thought Anette did the few Tarja songs quite well. But I always seem to stand alone in this.. 6,5/10
Kreator: ENEMY OF GOD! Our wake up call was heard! This band leaves your head completely messed up. No wonder they are programmed at the end of the fest! 7,5/10
Lordi: No one needs a head for this one though. F*ck man... What are you posers trying to prove? That a mask can win a songfestival? Well, you've done that. don't try to prove that on a metal festival. Put away the masks and the exaggerations and then look how big your crowd will be! Everyone can hear you don't make good music, but yeah, the children like the masks and they think it's tough. It's like the pop industry, music means nothing, your look does it.: 3/10
The other bands were not my style, or they just brought too bad weather..
Next year I probably won't be there again. This was a bit too crowded for me. It's no fun anymore having to stand in endless lines for everything. you can't get clear water without bubbles ANYWHERE except out from a crane next to the toilets... Well, I'll skip that! The line-up must be very exceptional next year to get me over there again! -
The best show you're NOT watching...
8 Oct 2008, 21:40 by xmothlightx

It's about a guy who can bring the dead back to life with a touch for one minute. If it exceeds one minute, then someone else has to die. So he uses this gift to help solve crimes. If he touched the people he brought back to life again, they stay dead - forever.
It's got the most amazing cast in existence, including Ellen Green (Little Shop of Horrors), and Kristin Chenoweth. And it's BEAUTIFULLY shot.
Tune in Wednesdays on ABC for a serious treat!

Retorycznie...
8 Oct 2008, 14:39 by Nera01
The Corrs i Blackmore's Night wymiatają irlandzką muzykę, Nightwish czy Epica chętnie słucham pisząc, a taka Era lub Dido same w sobie tworzą super nastrój...
To na tyle z takich małych muzycznych dygresji... Widać jestem oryginalna ^^ -
My teacher gave me 0% on my 2girls1cup review. NOT HAPPY
7 Oct 2008, 19:19 by Iowa656
GUYS I AM NOT HAPPY.
=[
SERIOUSLY
My stupid bitch of an English teacher gave me 0%, NO MARKS, FAIL, ZERO for my perfectly valid film review. Just because it wasn't one of her favourite films. Well it was my favourite film, and it was a perfectly valid review. I explored many themes of masculinity and sexism. But apparently pornography is not allowed. STUPID. I bet she's watched loads of porn films. I bet she's been in one....hmmmmmm HAWT....*droooool* errr Anyway you can read my review for your self and see how good it is. Then you can defecate on my teacher for giving me such a low grade.
(Sorry the pictures are huge, otherwise it's too hard to read)

Now i've got a stupid detention.AND have to write a new review. But it's okay, i'm going to get her back I'm thinking of reviewing Church of Fudge this time, anyone want to help me with it?

Top 20 Bashing Time
6 Oct 2008, 08:15 by Veluriel
I haven't done one of these bashing threads before, so here goes nothing.
If you take this seriously, then you have no sense of humour.
1. Apoptygma Berzerk - Too many 80's covers. Seriously, Stephan, have you forgotten how to actually write a song instead of ripping off Duran Duran? Then you released all those 'hits' into an album!
2. The Birthday Massacre- Every single song you write has the word 'boy' in it. Sing about men or women or something. You're starting to creep me out.
3. Razed in Black- Please stop singing about your fetishes. Please.
4. Sonata Arctica- You should really tour Australia sometime. I'm sure there's someone that's heard of you....
5. Icon of Coil- Instead of messing around with Panzer AG, DJ Scandy, Combichrist and lord knows what else, you really should be releasing more Icon Of Coil albums.
6. Dope Stars Inc.- Learn to love computers. For they soon shall be our masters!
7. Within Temptation Stop being so similar to Sirena, Nightwish, Evanescence and every other goth-girl-metal-but-we're-not-goth-or-metal band
8. Inkubus Sukkubus You're Pagan. Get over it.
Also learn to spell.
9. Deathstars- Put your new album out already! Also, your look gives the impression that you're some kind of pseudo-goth band.
10. Nightwish Once the original singer leaves, it goes downhill from there...
11. Grinspoon- Thanks for sneaking up on me like that. You guys, ditch the American producers, and go back to making ROCK music.
12. Zeromancer None of the lyrics in your last album made any sense. WTF is Teenage Recoil all about?
13. Skinny Puppy- You have to change your sound, what was cutting edge in 1987 doesn't cut it anymore.
14. Theatre of Tragedy- Didn't you learn anything from Nightwish? Did you?
15. In Flames You have an emo sounding name. Seriously.
16. Static-X Funny haircuts do not a band make.
17. Hungry Lucy Strange band name. It's been ages since I've properly listened to you, yet you're still on my top 20!
18. AFI When I heard
Miss Murder on the radio on the bus going to work, I knew right then and there that your music suddenly felt so....mainstream
18 (it's a tie!) Deadstar Assembly Please write lyrics that people over the age of 20 can appreciate. Thanks.
20 Powderfinger For single-handedly reviving the Slinky. You know what I'm talking about.
