About this album
History
Before the Roger Waters-led period, David Gilmour stated that the music and lyrics were in balance, and the importance of the music was understood. The Division Bell’s atmosphere is spacier, sounding more like Meddle or Obscured by Clouds than the grittier and harsher tones of Animals or The Wall. David Gilmour and keyboardist Richard Wright stated on “In the Studio with Redbeard”, which spotlighted The Division Bell (including interviews which were recorded for the world premiere special of The Division Bell aired one week before its U.S. release) that the album was the band’s best since their 1975 release Wish You Were Here.

no, it's not sick to call these songs bad - they're just way too sugar-coated for my taste (melody-wise, and in the case of Great Day for Freedom and Coming Back To Life also lyrics-wise). Sorry, I just can't listen to those to in particular.

Amazing album! How anyone can call Coming Back To Life, Poles Apart & Lost For Words bad is just sick.

I just (well, two weeks ago) listened to more or less the whole Pink Floyd catalogue back-to-back. Before, I thought The Division Bell was by the better post-Waters Floyd album. Now, I actually think the opposite. While Momentary Lapse has bad songs (most notably On the Turning Away and One Slip, IMHO), Division Bell has more of them (A Great Day For Freedom, Coming Back to Life, Poles Apart, Lost for Words). Anyhoo - the last song on each album is truly great.

this album is amazing in my opinion. the songs are fantastic and although it could have a better one I really like its structure. It makes me drifting away, really inspiring album. High Hopes is just a masterpiece.

This is a severely underappreciated album. Why it gets the bad reviews from critics and fans alike is beyond me.

Overrated, I'm afraid. It just sounds as they put DSotM and WYWH together and made a new album of it.
