The Beatles are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music, selling over a billion records internationally.[1] In the United Kingdom, The Beatles released more than 40 different singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one, earning more number one albums (15) than any other group in UK chart history. This commercial success was repeated in many other countries; their record company, EMI, estimated that by 1985 they had sold over one billion records worldwide.[2] According to the Recording Industry Association of America, The Beatles have sold more albums in the United States than any other band.

Why do people responding to people's negative comments when they are 14 years old, 17 years old etc? Who cares what they think, especially if they're not even adult and haven't had their ear in music fully evolve.

Although personally I can be very selective as to which tracks I listen to, The Beatles probably influenced pop, rock, metal, punk, soul and many other musical genres more than any other band had then, or have since ! This simple fact counteracts any trash-talk that may be left by the simple minded trolls that spout their vile bile in a sad attempt to get the attention they obviously lack in the pathetic lives !

I'm not a huge fan of the Beatles, being honest I only really like Sgt. Peppers, but anyone like IanCurtis13 who can honestly say they are not one of the most, if not the most influential band of all time are either incredibly ignorant or incredibly idiotic

I think we got another troll in IanCurtis. Have you heard songs like "Tomorrow Never Knows" or the 4 section and multi-time signature song "Happiness is A Warm Gun". The Kinks are a cool band but they were not as experimental or progressive as the Beatles. The Beatles are considered a major early influence on Progressive Rock. The Kinks are considered an early influence on Hard Rock which the Beatles had a influence on songs like "Helter Sketler" and "Revolution". Look I don't a lot of the early Beatles stuff but I give credit where credit is due. The Beatles influenced the Monkees and then the Beatles influenced Hendrix. They influenced a huge spectrum.

The Kinks were more experimental and did more more interesting music, The Beatles were just hippies and all hippies must die.

I think the Beatles along with others were pointing where future music was going and I think they got their very early with "Norwegian Wood" and "Tomorrow Never Knows". I think Dylan said that about the Beatles. I think many people know the Beatles "She Loves You" rather than their innovative stuff. The Beatles had an innate skill to fuse pop music with rock, experimental and progressive music. I don’t hear that in the Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and Bob Dylan. That’s why I think the Beatles translate too many musicians. They had all those traits. “A Day in the Life” and “Strawberry Fields Forever” is great examples' For you Metalheads have you forgotten that songs like "Revolution" and "Helter Skelter" recorded before Led Zeppelin were a band are considered Proto-Metal songs. The Beatles also popularized guitar feedback with a recurring guitar riff on "I Feel Fine" back in in 1964. So the Beatles have influenced Hard Rock. How many HARD ROCK BAND have covered Helter Skelter"

Go here www.answers.com/topic/the-beatles and check the amount of followers or people who cite the Beatles as a influence. Go compare them to anyone else say Led Zeppelin or Elvis then you might think the Beatles are the most influential rock artist of all time

It doesnt take much to look at todays Indie rock scene to seen where The Beatles mark has remained strong. Take in obvious Beatle-influenced acts like Blur , ColdPlay, Radio Head, Oasis or even listen to the garage revved sounds of bands like The Hives, The Strokes, Elastica, The White Stripes and the Darkness and then revisit the White Album and you may be surprised at how little things have really changed. The Beatles had beutiful melody interesting chord progressions merged with experimental and progressive elements. Songs like "Tomorrow Never Knows", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "She Said She Said","A Day in the Life" are what separate them from the Rolling Stones and the Kinks. Not only do those songs sound like nothing else back then but they were melody driven songs merged with progressive elements and experimental elements. It's no wonder that bands like progressive bands like Radiohead like them. They had the right mixture of pop, rock, experimental and progressive.
