The Samples are a band formed in Boulder, Colorado in early 1987. The band’s name came from the members’ early sustenance of food samples from the local King Soopers grocery store. The music has been described as “reggae influenced rock/pop” and a cross between The Police and the Grateful Dead. The founding members were Sean Kelly (Guitar/Vocals), Andy Sheldon (Bass/Vocals), Charles Hambleton (guitar), Jeep MacNichol (Drums/Vocals), and Al Laughlin (Keyboards, Vocals).

Maybe not jam but perhaps PB&J. These guys definitely have a blended sound and unique vocals. Definitely not Punks! I know they call Colorado their home, but with their ties to the Northeast, can't we just tag them as a Vermont band?

How do tags get fixed? The similar artists are not at all similar. Although not a jam band by any means, these guys should be listed along side Phish, Dave Matthews Band. Dave Matthews once toured as the opening act for The Samples.
