Tipper

Although mostly known in the breakbeat scene, Tipper’s output includes strong hints of electro and idm amongst other styles. He is known for his interest in extreme bass frequencies, with his releases often including lengthy subbass test tones at the end.
Tipper is also the owner of the loudest car in the world, a 10k sound system in a Dodge Challenger. He, and likeminded people from his label Fuel Records, have engaged in stunts like emptying a swimming pool, covering it with an acoustic canopy and enjoying the bass, or drowning out The Prodigy on the main stage of the V Festival with their car sound systems parked several miles away.
His ambient organic sounds blended with technologically borne beats and noises makes his music extremely psychedelic, this combined with exquisetely timed and cut scratching makes him one of the most complete electronic artists today, creating structures and textures that in some other contexts might be contrary and confusing, but fuse instead into a complex ,harmonious and sometimes dark structure that continues to push the envelope of modern composition .

nah, WF's too same-y, + TN is way too sparse for me. tipper was at his prime when he wasn't putting out an album every 6 months... :/

I don't know why but The Seamless Unspeakable Something isn't listed here on Last.fm & IMO, it's probably his most accessible album & a good place to start. A little bit of everything Tipper has to offer whereas most of his other albums tend to stick to a certain format. If you're looking for something to really knock you off your seat I'd recommend Tip Hop. Its a live mix of some of his best work & Tipper is a very underrated Scratch DJ as well as Producer. Wobble Factor is sort of the sequel to that & also good.

Surrounded is by far his best album, but also go for The Seamless Unspeakable Something, Holding Pattern, Tip Hop, Relish The Trough...actually, come to think of it, the only ones not up to scratch are Tertiary Noise and Wobble Factor, the rest is ace stuff!

i'd recommend "the seamless unspeakable something" even thougn it aint listed here yet. followed by "surrounded" then his newbie "wobble factor" production on all is so lush and just brilliant. and yes a good set of headphones or a massive system definately is needed to do it justice. and just for the record my 5 month old absolutely adores all tipper stuff!

i love his latest work, wobble factor, back to the beats!

I'd recommend you ’Surrounded' to start with. You need a decent sound system or a pair of headphones though to fully appreciate this master piece.

I wish he'd get with the Last.fm thing... three 30 sec samples just doesn't do him justice.
