Ruisrock 2006: Mozzer & Mew.
9 Jul 2006, 21:55
I just came back from the Ruisrock festival and I'm over the moon... I got to see the Morrissey live, he's my personal hero #1.
Aww, his gig was way too short. :( But he sung the Smiths' How Soon Is Now, Girlfriend in a Coma, Panic, hmm, anything else? ;) I have (not very good) pics of him in three different shirts, but I'll have to get me a cord to get them out of the camera.
Mew, yesterday night, was brilliant too, but they had some sort of technical problems at first. It took them 15 minutes to get the gig really started. After that it was so good, they almost made me cry. (Well, I had been up from 6 am... I'm sure it had nothing to do with that.)
They are apparently afraid of Moomin (you know the Finnish cartoon.) Hmm... They must be very sensitive if that's the case.
Lemonator was great too, but that's kind of obvious. Marvellous, perfect, superb this, superb that.
I'd like to write some more details, but I'm afraid I'm about to pass out... ;)
Good night.

Snow Patrol - Set the Fire to the Third Bar
29 May 2006, 17:48
I bought Snow Patrol's new album today, but I had heard the duet with Martha Wainwright before. Actually, it's the most beautiful thing I've heard this year.
I've read some reviews of the album and people tend to either love it or think it's too clinical.
Well, Set the Fire to the Third Bar is not clinical one bit. ;)

One Year of Scrobblin'
11 Apr 2006, 19:17
Yeah, even though I remember stumbling to this page thanks to a Google "free internet radio" search like it was yesterday... :P
To celebrate this occasion I'm allowed to present some useless statistics:
I have obsessions - and to prove this, I counted all of my weekly charts #1's.
Here's the score:
Manic Street Preachers 13
The Alan Parsons Project 9
The Beatles, Franz Ferdinand 5
Pink Floyd, Morrissey, Mew 3
(Ten different bands 1)
Only 17 bands have made it... I blame my Manics obsession last year. ;)

If this shows, you can see my weekly average listens... (Not going in the right direction.)
I got almost 50,000 tracks played in a year (47955), damned real life didn't let me listen more. ;) -
It's my birthday... And writing this just about killed me.
27 Jan 2006, 23:38
Today, January 28th 2006, is my 23rd birthday. Woohoo.
Like I promised, it's time for a new entry - exactly 25 days later. (Or 26, if you live in the Netherlands, like I was kindly pointed out.)
In honor of the celebration, I'm going to write a few words about my current obsessions.
Mew
I finally finished my long-term obsession with Mew's newest album, the amazing And The Glasshanded Kites couple weeks ago.
Now I've found myself indulging their debut (?) album Frengers.
There should be a law against bands as magnificient as Mew. ;)
Air
To be honest, I never really got into their 1998 release Moon Safari. There are excellent songs, but I was way too lazy to listen it properly.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, I've fallen in love with Talkie Walkie. (We are announcing our engagement any day now.)
Uh, seriously, it's probably the most relaxing album (along with Sigur Rós) I've ever listened to (ie. I've fallen asleep while listening to it more than once.) I love that kind of albums.
The Alan Parsons Project
Tales of Mystery and Imagination? Indescribable. I wish more people would do albums about literature pieces (especially Egdar Allan Poe's, as I'm strangely fascinated by him.)
A Turn of a Friendly Card? A definite classic.
Gaudi? I don't think many albums have gotten me interested in the subjects, unlike this album. Besides, the song La Sagrada Familia is as gorgeous as the building.
(Eye in the Sky? I think I've run out of praising adjectives.)
Pink Floyd
I've said this before: I'm too stubborn for my own good.
I got into Pink Floyd in 2002, loved The Piper at the Gates of Dawn but then (TEH horror) I was really disappointed with The Dark Side of the Moon (I just loved Syd) and quitted the scene. Stupid.
Ahem, the Pulse version of Comfortably Numb changed my mind; Pink Floyd minus Syd does not equal DSOTM. :D
Wish You Were Here is my absolute favourite now. One day I'm going to listen to TDSOTM veeery carefully and maybe - just maybe - I'll start liking it (too).
---
Please excuse me my stupid fragmented sentence structure and lame inside jokes, I've been up way over 18 hours. Heh.
And I couldn't bother adding the album tags. Gimme a break. ;) -
A Day in the Life
2 Jan 2006, 22:46
What to do when one of your last.fm top 25 artists begin seriously annoy you?
Especially when you've listened them well over 400 times and dropping them the "traditional" way just takes way too long.
Yeah, this is the time when the profile editor comes into the play. But you're too worried about the "correctness" of your stats, so you just can't remove their plays altogether. Come on, what would people say? Horrible.
So you try to remove some tracks you obsessively hate, but later discover all the removed things after 13th December have returned.
You kind of get pissed off because Firefox tends to crash every time you open the editor, too.
And every time Firefox crashes, your computer starts to complain how there is no memory left.
At this point you wonder why do you bother doing this at all and write a long, stupid and boring journal entry about it. The entry will be later deleted by equally pissed off future-self, who has rediscovered (*shudder*) the damned band.
You swear never to write anything to your last.fm journal again. The promise is broken exactly 25 days later.
THE END -
Jeff Buckley.
2 Dec 2005, 21:15
I'm just sitting here crying.
I've been reading a book about Jeff Buckley and I just can't understand why just he is dead. (Why not me instead?) :(
Or why is Kirsty MacColl dead?
Elliott Smith?
or anyone I just can't mention now? -
