I mainly play 'singles', rather than albums. I would guess that my mp3 collection currently stands at between 50,000 - 100,000 discrete tracks, of which about 25,000 are on my "random" playlist, 7,000 are "classics", 2,000 are "top tracks" and 500 are "compulsory", then there's miscellaneous specialist playlists (like Northern Soul). Good new stuff is added regularly too. For what it's worth, I reckon that 2008 has been quite a good year

I hold my hands up to 'rigging'. I listen to loads of stuff on my personal mp3 player that doesn't get scrobbled, (mainly my top 100 artists or thereabouts by stats). When I play music at home I deliberately attempt to listen to some older , newer, more obscure, or more diverse music. You'll realise that as you get older the world doesn't revolve around whichever artist is currently being hyped by the music industry (no point in naming names). Music by truly talented artists (Bowie, Elton, Stones, Beatles, Queen) will still be played 50 years from now. Incidentally, I will play almost anything once, but only stuff I actually like will appear on my top 500 charts
