if you totally turned your list around i would be with you cheering for your first two picks then still wind up saying “what the fuck dude” when you put alpha zulu in third

their post Wolfgang career is basically the biggest bag fumble in "indie rock" history lol, and I say that as someone who loves all of those albums but still. I do kind of respect them for it though.

the problem wasn’t really the long waits, they just never made the right albums at the right times. WAP (yeah, wet ass pussy) was literally the only time they pulled it off. if they followed that up with ti amo instead of bankrupt i think they would’ve stayed pretty big, but by the time 2018 came around it just wasn’t possible to get them back to the top. no reason to worry or pity them, though – they are extremely comfortable french aristocrats (and thomas married into even more money), i’m confident they’ll just keep making albums forever regardless of how hip or profitable they are(n’t)…and yeah, tiktok or whatever’s next will eventually bring about at least a couple more legacy hits i’m sure

the braxe and falcon remix of "solstice" is better than the entire album...makes me wish they had produced it from the start

they have their issues but they know how to protest, cook, and make dance music. miles ahead of britain, america, most of the west

You have 923,000 scrobbles! Impressive! 🤘🏽 Your compatibility with steepcurve is Low. You both listen to Brian Eno, Phoenix and Boris.

Makes me happy they're still around. Love love love seeing them live - they're AMAZING. The shows are so much fun and the production is visually stunning, which is rare to find with other bands. Hope you get the chance to see them (or 4 x times like me).

Me too. Who knew in 1968, when Vremuri (Old Times) was released, that they would still be around today!

i didn’t like the new record at all but i’m still bummed to see it did basically nothing for them (and even moreso for ti amo, which i consider their most underrated album by far). bankrupt really wasn’t the right after move amadeus and their career still hasn’t recovered =\

then again, they’re basically old world aristocrats, so i don’t exactly worry for them…but still. outside of one album and a few other songs they’re pretty damn underrated

oh yeah they're rich for sure, just since you said aristocrats i thought you meant they were literally descendants of royalty or smth like that which would be an interesting fact lol. i agree w you btw, they're definitely underrated. i was just thinking the other day that thank god they're rich or it would be over for them lmao

yeah, sorry, “basically” was doing a lot in my OP – but given their wealth and their obvious good breeding, i really wouldn’t be surprised what we could find out one day. the wikipedia entry for versailles implies some pretty good odds…

but yeah on the plus side, i think it means we’ll be seeing at least one phoenix album per decade for the rest of their lives…they’ll never have to stop and they’re too obsessed with music to ever truly give it up. again i didn’t like the new one but ti amo is all the evidence i need to know they can still make great records when they’re in the mood…or they could just keep doing studio covers of obscure ‘70s beach boys bootlegs like that christmas song they did a few years ago, i’d be plenty happy with that

It is an honour to grow up with them! A joy to see that, after the sh**...., well, the not very brilliant Ti Amo, they return to create those brilliant melodies that stay with you forever!

I think I love the new album. It's a very good Wolfgang Bankrupt Ti Amo Phoenix.

as a geologist, i feel betrayed by the music industry for calling any music rock! rocks are minerals, not sound waves!

phoenix fans seem to really hate electronic music which doesn’t make sense. oh well…. either get used to the change or don’t. Alpha Zulu is top with United, Bankrupt and Ti Amo imo.
