It does grow, even if it feels "poppier" (or maybe that's precisely why it grows on someone). It grew so much on me that I think it became my most listened Astronoid album. But I see/hear/(breathe?) "Air" as being their best one.

New album is really decent. Thank god they came back with the blast beats (even if the vocals continue to be gay).

"maybe just a little bit different from Prog/BlackGaze bands in general". There you go.

We have a misunderstanding about the definition of the word "special" I guess lol but no problem

New songs are pretty gay (as always), but pretty enjoyable anyway, even if not something "new" from this band.

Despite sounding a wee bit too much as if an indie band decided to go metal, I guess these guys are my new favourite band. Great music to headbang to while gazing at our shoes!

New album is great. The feeling of pop punk combined with some atmospheric post-black-ish metal and shoegaze.

New album feels like a bit of a letdown for me. Not really sure why, but losing the blast beats made me pretty sad. At least the mixing is better.

I really like the new self titled album. The vocals aren't buried by the drums and bass this time around.

Ok, the new album is pretty good but I can't stop thinking about it labeling it with the term "soygaze". lol

To be perfectly honest, the new album feels somewhat disappointing, and I have no idea why. Well, I mean I guess it just doesn't feel quite as catchy, which is a real problem when we're talking about a Astronoid-album. The debut was instantly catchy, even to the point of being annoying at times - I have listened to the new album around four times, and I can't really recall a single part of it. I know I enjoyed the whole album, but I just can't remember any of it. Damnit Astronoid, I was counting on you.

This. I agree with everything you said. That’s probably why I’m not as into the new one as I was with Air. Maybe it was the super high expectations because the debut was so incredible, I’m not sure. But the new one certainly doesn’t make me feel quite the same way unfortunately.

I know 2019 just started but this new album is some AOTY material. Astronoid is really something else.

Better than the "Dream Thrash" tag that Blood Music keesp touting. lol. I love Blood Music, He seems like a good dude and has put out great stuff. But Tbh I was kinda annoyed when I first heard this band cause I read Dream Thrash and was hoping for Voivod or Anacrusis mixed with like Chameleons or something. I turn it on and I was like ohhh.. it's just post-metal... ;-; haha.

People can not be serious with these kind of genre tags? Stuff sounds like nu-metal married with midwest-emo and general bad taste.

this band is very unique, it sounds like deafheaven and some 00' generic post hardcore had a son, specially because their vocals, which remembers bands like abandon all ships, attack! attack! and others. well, I really don't care about it, some songs are really catchy.

The same reason I started listening to them as well! It's really hard to find similar sounding artists.

This band is amazing. Air is propably my favorite debut of the year, and there's been a lot of good ones this year too. The melodic and etheric combined masterfully with heavy sounds. Actually, before this album, I didn't even realize that you could be heavy as hell without being least bit aggressive
