No point in comparing the two versions. Dylan's is excellent, Hendrix's is excellent. Other than the fact they are singing the same song, the two performances have nothing in common. It's like comparing In My Time of Dying by Dylan and Zeppelin.

Hendrix’s version is legendary, but I like this one more, it fits the lyrics better

So much better the Hendrix version. First version I heard was from Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica) and that's been my favourite version for years. This one took me time to really enjoy, but it's my preferred version now. Despite being a lifelong Bob fan

If you add all of my plays of this song from both Bob Dylan and other artists - Jimi Hendrix Experience, Dream Syndicate, Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush - it is my most played song. One of the great American songs of all-time. When one wants to become a songwriter, they should study this song.

Honestly, a lot of blonde on blonde's lyrics are unbearably pretentious and clunky. something tells me Dylan felt the same way when making this album

I like blonde on Blonde but you have a good point here. Dylan managed to say allot more with less on this and subsequent albums.

vv I hate how people overanalyze Dylan's lyrics. He wasn't singing about anything out of the ordinary at the time, especially if you consider the political and social climate at the time; the value comes from his particular choice of words to deliver his lyric (striking a tone that is both casual and extremely lyrical) and ability to deliver a common sentiment without sounding angsty or contrived. It's just a good tune, and Dylan wrote these songs as a means of expressing his own views of society, not for random nobodies to question their life's existence over it

I'm at the point in my life where I prefer the original 1967 version over all others

Great track! Heard Hendrix' version first, but I'm beginimng to prefer Dylan's version. Especially the version from Dylan's Budokan album.

Heard Dylan play this live about 4 years ago. They did the Hendrix take on it, even with the distorted guitar solos and all. It was a awesome mash up.

No it is not El Salvador7.............. listen to PM on his records and you will notice he is OK when belting it out, but wobbles when trying low slow notes as he cant hold them. Like so many 'singers', techno helps him out. Because they dont know breath control and use of diaphragm etc. JH could, of course, play his guitar.........
