Yeah, it's absurd how overlooked this is. Compositionally it's superb; the band's performances are great; it's one of LaBrie's better post-Awake vocals; and the lyrics are some of the best on any DT song. Religious belief being used as an excuse to ignore terrestrial suffering is... pretty much a case of completely ignoring the actual teachings of every major world religion, and this can't be pointed out often enough, particularly by people who actually have religious beliefs (which, admittedly, I don't).

Amen brother. I personally have religious beliefs, and so does LaBrie, but I fully comprehend where he's coming from with this song. I do not view songs like this as threats to my belief system, like others might who have "blind faith"; rather, I welcome the criticism, because it allows me to re-examine my faith and not self-righteous, which is what LaBrie is basicallly cautioning against in this lyric. Superb song.
