Biography

Eclectic and improvising multi-instrumentalist Eric Wallack has been part of the underground and hometaping scene since the early 80's when he acquired his first 4-track recorder and recorded under the name Bhagiti. A free-improviser in New York in the mid-late 1980's and later a member of NW Ohio avant-garde post-punk bands Uncle Mike's Nightmare, Satan Tortilla (later Tortilla Diablo), and Mind Power in the early 90's. Later he formed the improvising ambient rock trio The Lords of True Slack with William Price and Comet Emission, recording several improvised concerts in 2000.

Eric is currently a free improviser working in solo, duo and ensemble settings and counts Don Campau, Bret Hart, Rotcod Zzaj, Greg Segal, Tom Furgas and other hometapers as his regular recording collaborators. Currently Eric performs solo if not with poet Leonard Kress or his eclectic improvising group Yes, I Said Yes!

On April 19, 2008 Eric completed his sprawling 365 Project; an attempt to write, record and upload a new original song a day for 365 days. The 365 project can be viewed (and heard) in its entirety for free at www.songjournal.podomatic.com

Eric's recent releases include The Hive Itself a Teacup on ala Jazz Records and a realization of part of Cornelius Cardew's Treatise released on a Cardew compilation in the summer of 2008.
