It can't be stressed enough that Sara Lee stepped into one of the hardest gigs in music history - bassist for freakin' Gang Of Four - and created most of their most badass basslines. In particular "It Is Not Enough," which is probably the funkiest bassline ever. Her work in "We Live As We Dream, Alone" has so much nuance in the way that it subtly ebbs and flows with the vocals of the song. And "Call Me Up" is a similarly nuanced bassline, with lots of moody textures. This is definitely in the top 5 all-time bass albums in my book.

Easily their best album in my opinion, and one of my favorite CDs to grab for a road trip. Has all their best songs (aside from "Damaged Goods" & "I Found That Essence Rare") - "The History Of The World" (proto-shoegaze), "It Is Not Enough" (invented post-hardcore), "Call Me Up," "We Live As We Dream, Alone," etc., plus two slow, unsettling songs at the end ("Instant" & "Fault"). Just a tour de force. Fuck... have to go put it on now.

When is this album going to be re-released? I hear it's quite good (unlike the atrocious Hard, which is still easily available).
