This reminds me of a holiday in Blackpool in 1978 and playing pool. It was in all the juke boxes.

The song opens with a generic beat ushering us onto the dance floor, where we're sold pieces of one another for our sexual gratification ("I'll let you commodify mine if you let me commodify yours"). And while the prospect of such sexual exchange isn't all that appealing, it's better than being alone at home, with our nagging thoughts and nothing to distract us from them. But it's not working--even sexual release can't alleviate the feeling of emptiness in the pits of our stomachs. And the guitar knows it: outside the choruses, where the guitar chimes in to enrich the texture, it's not pleased to be dragged along by the incessant beat. (Imagine the sound of a bludgeoned robot trying to pick itself up and crawl across the floor--that's Gill's guitar sound on this track.) It wants something else, but has no idea what might calm its nerves; so it belts out tortured screams for your attention. Listen to it! Listen, if you can hear anything over the all-encompassing disco beat.

"Why is it that practically every track played on Last is some studio outtake or demo or pseudo-live track?" ballbags, mate. the vast majority of stuff on here is the as-advertised relevant album version.

Why is it that practically every track played on Last is some studio outtake or demo or pseudo-live track? don't get me wrong this version is great, but its not the one on the album. just wanna know where to find what is really being played.
