Their 80's material (aka "the Noise Years") rules a lot! Headbanging Man, Back from War, We Wanna Rock You, Witch Hunter and Keep on Rocking are songs you need to check out if you haven't!

Can't even tell whether the songs are much worse than before. It's the damn production that ruins everything! Such a stale tin can sound - whatever happened at post-processing, who thinks this is good enough? From what little could tell from the songs, I thought the quality of songs is about the same as Healed by Metal and onwards. For whatever reason, the album this stylistically reminded me the most was actually The Clans Will Rise Again! Maybe it's certain Ritt's riffs and solos, sounds. Nothing new under the sun, and this band doesn't sound like energizing again and resurrecting anytime soon. Can't say the album as a whole is _that_ bad, but the production pretty much ruins it. A rare and unfortunate case.

Here in my country we call Axel Ritt ''lettuce hands'', because he plays the same cheese riffs style and are no near the level of Manni or Lulis. It's always the same rice and beans meal, no innovation, no memorable songs. Sad.

Part 2: - on The Clans Will Rise Again and even Return of the Reaper his playing was still more varied and colourful in that regard. With the thematic conception(s) of Grave Digger, the possibilities for some outstanding and spine-tingling atmosphere are limitless and exquisite. It's a bit sad that they are more or less unrealized or grasped at on this album. Even one ballad or a slower or otherwise different kind of song amidst all that bone-exterminating would have given this album so much more! That said, I did very much enjoy this record. It's a damn fine killer of a record, the like of which only Grave Digger can produce. And for a band who's nearing 40 years of composing and performing with the same agenda or format, it's incredibly refreshed and inspired (though not as much as Return of the Reaper, ha), and that's not a small feat. And hey, who could possibly resist those beckoning clutches of Zombie Dance? Jolly amazing song in its own right ;D The digging goes on - hail!

Part 1: Well well, the hour is upon us again - a new record by the maestros, that is. Having just finished my first listen of The Living Dead, I find myself with mixed feelings. They still know best how to rock out and kick ass, nothing has changed in that regard. And that's always a pleasure to hear, truly. Axel is able to create damn energetic and invigorating riffs. But something that this album seems to lack and what I find myself missing is the other side of Grave Digger - the eerie and morbid atmosphere. I would have hoped to hear more of that, in the wake of "Legion of the Lost", Heart of Darkness and The Grave Digger albums. Grand Master Uwe and even Manni showcased perfectly that you can be both crushing as well as atmospheric to the bone. Just have a listen to any of the albums by Uwe and Manni, if you don't know what I mean. It's a shame that Axel hasn't recently made use of this more - (continues)
