There's something about this album that I really like. Very underrated, a definite highlight of Jay's catalog, up there with the core 4

Not his best project, but definitely my favorite. Brings me back to late 09 fr, but RD, BP I & 4:44 still top this album

If "Empire State of Mind" wasn't on this, the critics would've panned it, yet I still look forward to what he has coming up next.

The production is generally well-handled but ridiculously over-extravagant and metallic at times - by the time you reach track 10 you're almost worn out and D.O.A. barely fits in sonically. Almost all of the second half is a jumbled mixture between state-of-the-art, glossed up filler and one or two fresh ideas. That being said, there's enough about this album to render it a solid collection - now if the beats weren't so samey structurally and the verses not suffocated by derivative braggadocio and an overloaded guestlist...

I don't understand where any of you guys are coming from. After "Empire State of Mind" the whole album just falls apart. It's easy to say it's one of his worst releases, it's just really unfocused and the beat selection is questionable to say the least.

Bullshit they didn't. Seven years ago, all I heard was "99 Problems is the only good song on The Black Album!! Hov is falling off!!1!". And you're out of your mind if you think nobody hated American Gangster... no singles broke the Top 50. Album got no love. Look right here on Last.FM: "I love Jay, but this album is wack.."/"great beats, half-assed rapping."/"yep TOTALLY retarded, kingdom come is better this is just.... just not jay z ".

@torenkownage: fuckin' right! // btw: I don't get people which ask something like: ,,Jay-Z, why you comeback?!'' LOL So if someone released a great album like Blueprint 1 he should stop creating music? <wow> F*ck those people, and thanks to Jigga for TB.3. Great great great... really thx. I have 95% of album in favs :P

This album is great. People hated on The Black Album when it came out (which is now almost universally loved), Kingdom Come, American Gangster and now this. His style has changed. If you wanna hear his old style, go listen to his old shit! Fuck. Just 'cause BP3 is out doesn't mean you can't bump his old shit too. If he put out the same shit over and over people would bitch about it too. You got choice. Take your pick and enjoy.

BP3 is decent, but I wasn't expecting this album to be great just from the leaks.

Jay-Z hasn't made a song for the streets in 15 years. Now he's just taking it to a completely disgusting level of popstar-shiny-suit-faggotry. The first half is not bad, but after track 8 this just blows the fuck up into an unbearable storm of vomit inducing verbal bile. That's right, verbal fucking bile. Go listen to Raekwon's new cd if you want an artist that is still decent at 40.
