Truly epic. This song is a melodic journey that passes through equal parts dread, fear, anger, reverence, penance, and sadness -- almost in that order. Among the many great qualities of this song is that it is very much like Bark Psychosis' "The Black Meat" (itself an astounding musical work) in that it recreates itself twice (at 2:30 and 5:43), becoming almost an entirely new song both times -- and, like "The Black Meat," the first recreation packs a huge, emotionally triumphant wallop, while the second transformation, less striking but somehow no less moving, conveys a kind of mournful acquiescence, a kind of submission to a musical (and therefore emotional) fate. Along with the acoustic version of "All in My Mind," this is their best work.
