I don't even understand how it's possible for Ministry to go from this to heavy industrial metal. Almost feels like a different band made this.

Honestly, it's the one I go back to the most. I realize as I've gotten older, their '90s stuff just doesn't do as much for me. Animositisomina is awesome, but everything post that too is pretty cheesy. 1980s Ministry just hits differently all on fronts.

This is beautiful album from the 80s decade, many influences can be heard from British New Wave to Italo Disco and even Electro Funk, one of my favorite Ministry albums for sure.

No on se synthpopiksikin hemmetin kehno levy. Pari ok biisiä ja sen jälkeen pelkkää unohdettavaa ripulia

I love this album, and the fact that Al is so embarrassed of it these days only makes it better

This is a great. Most hate about it comes from stupid close minded metalheads who are not able to enjoy any kind of music apart from metal. The 3 first songs on the album are really groovy. Videoclips are awesome too. People who can't enjoy this and can bear the anti-Bush trilogy or Relapse disgust me. (2)

Can anyone recommend something similar to this album? Not just synthpop but something like this with a rough edge and some darkwave mixed into it.

The last thing I thought I'd ever say about Ministry was that they sound similar to Depeche Mode. But this album definitely goes along with that synthpop/New Wave. Personally, I love that style of music, and while this album is by no means a great example of that genre, there are some really great hidden gems here. Granted, I'm not much of a metal fan, so I'm not a huge fan of the rest of Ministry's output, but this album is pretty great, along with "Twitch".

I don't understand how he could sound like this and not like that and then like that and not like this. Not one can deny I am exactly like the rest of you and can hardly understand such a simple thing and I will in fact lie to get my lonely selfish opinion across because even though I don't understand myself in any way, I understand you all even less. Lies and denial time. What? You listen to this? It's their best that pales in comparison to all albums that followed and it's their worst that all others should have sounded just like. I will end by irrationally putting an intelligence level on your music taste and say that it is unintelligent.

The funny thing is that Al always sings with a faux-British accent, it's just less obvious on the later albums because of the effects on his voice. Seriously, listen to Burning Inside again. This album isn't very good (except for Revenge, which RULES), but I'd rather listen to straightforward synthpop than the repetitive meathead-metal stuff they got famous for. Sue me, I like Soft Cell! It's not wise to pretend that Twitch and LORAH aren't Ministry's best albums, though.

While I personally am a fan of metal and 80's synth / electronic music, among other styles, and really like this album a lot, I still can understand that many Ministry fans dislike this album strongly. However, considered bad or not, it's still so much better than many of the bands that at that time were into making this kinda music. I mean, it's a new wave masterpiece, and Al didn't even wanna do this kinda music. That just shows his quality as a wide musician.

I don't see why Al or the Ministry fanboys hate it. It's pretty damn good for a SynthPop album. Though the pseudo-British accent does give me the LoL's.

I must concur with many others here, I had no idea Ministry once sounded like this. Shocking and intriguing.
