Together with Terminal Tower and The Modern Dance, Dub Housing is Pere Ubu at their best. This perfectly encapsulates the "Avant-Garage" sensibility they had early on.

I love this one as well. Plenty of people who love the Modern Dance seem to dislike it though. Dunno why.

I love Dub Housing, but I'm not a big fan of Modern Dance. They're fairly different albums, so no surprise there. Dub Housing has more direct energy and catchiness.

I First heard PERE UBU on Kent State University's *FRESH AIR* Back in the 1970s. Ubu got airplay on WKSU 89.7 FM quite Freak-went-Lee, and even though I lived about 50 miles outside of Cleveland, I could not find any of their LPs anywhere. Finally I lucked out and found "DUB HOUSING" and there was an Address on the LP, so I wrote a letter to David Thomas asking him where in the world can I find "THE MODERN DANCE"?!.... Believe it or not, he mailed me back an UBU COMMUNEX Newsletter with an inked comment telling me about a few stores in the greater Cleveland area that might have this LP. That was back in the late 70s. I still have it. Thanks Dave! By the way, I finally found a copy VIA Mail order in around 1979.
