This is probably one of the most famous songs of all SWANS catalogue, and it totally deserves this title, this song is simply majestic, probably my favourite piece of Post-Punk music of all time. The instrumental is simply incredible, principally the lush guitars and the the soul crushing keyboards at the ending (courtesy of Jarboe as always), and this ending, it certainly is one of the most epic and cathartic passages ever composed. Michael Gira voice fits so perfectly here that is absolutely impossible to imagine any other voice singing, his deep bass performance of this era was made for gothic music, its dark and apocalyptic in a completely different level. But, what makes the true magic here is the lyrics. Michael probably wrote one of the most iconic and powerful pieces of nihilistic poetry ever made, it is unbelievably beautiful and depressing at the same time, but also gives a awkward sense of freedom, of being freed from the wires of desire, will, and the illusion of salvation.

"This was on Nick Cave's warm-up playlist for his most recent tour." I don't wonder at all, it suits well to their music! :)
