My only complaint about this album is ,they recorded some parts of the songs very loud for dramatic effect,... and it sucks. It's like someone suddeny turns the volume up and you are like ''whatta hell!'' (for instance : first song , no one loves me , 2.44) great album though, especially the vocal choruses, loved it .

I love the album I do agree that it has QotSA fingerprint all over it, which I assume is de facto Josh's empire too. I adore some of the riffs on this album, I am extremely happy they exist, but even on the album Josh did with Iggy Pop, you hear the familiar Josh recipe. Josh probably will never pull a Kid A, unless I've lived under a rock. With Foo up in the air, oh god, I'd love another TVC album. If it sucked, I'd be happy to know that too, that the magic has passed.

All three do a fantastic job on the album, especially JPJ. If this would've been released by Led Zeppelin in 1971 it would be a rock classic.

I disagree about this album being inconsistent. Maybe in musical style, but absolutely not in awesomeness. I've grown to love the weird ass songs like Interlude with the Ludes and Reptiles as much as everything else on the album. You have to listen to the album loud in order to get it. Also, Homme is known for loving weird songs. But I actually think JPJ is the most important member.

I agree that it's an album that grows on you. I didn't care for it first listen, but after a third listen, I love the sound the band has. Classic rock/stoner rock and even some tints of grunge.

I agree with Beau-Daniel. There's some great songs, but then there's some songs where you're like, :WTF, who wrote this?" They're releasing a new album this fall, hopefully it'll maintain a bit more consistency. But if it's every bit as good as their debut album, I'm totally buying it.

Best hard rock album of 2009? It is for me, well from what I have heard from 2009.
