The perfect Tiamat album, the band's zenith. From abandoning their death metal roots leading to Gaia and Wildhoney, everything came to a full circle here... and sadly Tiamat/Edlund never reached that form again. Not that I wish for a Deeper Kind No. 2, but if only they wrote songs of such an atmospheric magnitude again.

Maybe it's something about different tunings (the old stuff in D and new stuff in E) so the instrument swap every now and then would break the flow of the vibe that Slumber was after? just guessing though. wish I could see them in 1997, A Deeper Kind Of Slumber is a great record and it certainly changed my life forever

I think Tiamat really pushed the whole scene forward, first with Wildhoney and then again with Slumber, in a sense of broadening horizons, experimentation etc. Slumber came out in April 1997, One Second in July 1997 and then next year you had Alternative 4, How To Measure A Planet?, Sin/Pecado, Aégis, 34.788%... Complete, Vovin, Discouraged Ones, all very genre-breaking at the time and different for the bands involved. love all of those albums

hey you, tiny metal boy, listen to Elizium by Fields of the Nephilim to comprehend what Tiamat is really about.

Wail of Sumer + And There Will Your Heart Be Also = Mount Marilyn + A Deeper Kind of Slumber. Almost the same things. Also you may read Edlund's terrorizer interview, scans posted down below.

This is a very special album for me. Along with Clouds and Wildhoney, this is one of the best releases Edlund has created to this day. It may not be as heavy as their older stuff but its atmosphere is still bitter, and full of emotions. 'Atlantis As a Lover' and 'Teonanaclat' are two of my all time favorite songs.

Amazing album..along with Wildhoney their best works by far IMO - too bad a few people outside of the metal scene know about these 2 albums.[2]

It s been almost 7 years from the first time I heard this Album and it s still outstanding and its otherworldiness is still unreachable...one of the best concept albums ever..and as other mentioned tiamat's masterpiece conceptual Psychedelic rock album is the appropriate tag , i believe !

świetny album! Całość tworzy coś w rodzaju jednej wielkiej "zasypianki". Great album! Sounds like lullaby...

Beautiful album. And as mentioned already. Amazing for those sleepless times. As for cover art. I used to hate it and over time it totally grew on me and even suites the album.
