Musically, apocalyptic post-punk is often an uplifting and metallic reinterpretation of post-punk, deathrock and gothic rock, yet it still maintains the eerie and cold atmosphere characterized by those genres. Lyrically, apocalyptic post-punk bands explore themes like post-Soviet and Cold War era, dystopia, eleutherophobia (fear of freedom), end of the world, sex, decadence and death.
