I agree with ralfsu. I couldnt listen to this album for a long time because of the big production. When I did finally listen to it a few times I realized every song was great - I eventually got over the production and enjoyed the songs - except the title track oddly. I prefer the stripped down acoustic version of that song on Tracks. Serves it much better I think.

I think it's interesting that so many people consider this to be his best album. Darkness on the Edge of Town, for example, is in my opinion much better. A lot of it has to do with the production, like the mixing of his vocals -- and then we have the synth's of course. I would like to hear the demos of these songs to see if they are like the songs on Nebraska, one of my absolute favourite albums of his.
